"Healthy Self Esteem
Just How Worthy Are You"

Do you have healthy self esteem? Are you worth anything? Do you think you're worth anything? Does your self esteem fly through the roof or does it just sink down into a bottomless pit every time someone criticizes you? Are you feeling great about yourself?

Here are a few definitions:

  • A person´s sense of his or her value or worth
  • Sense of personal worth and ability that is fundamental to an individual's identity
  • Feelings of self-worth stemming from the individual's positive or negative beliefs about being valuable and capable
  • How much a person likes, accepts, and respects him or herself overall as a person
  • What our unconscious believes to be true about how worthy, lovable, valuable and capable we are

I like that last definition, because to me, having a healthy self esteem is all about what we believe to be true about ourselves. The way we are raised, the friends we had or didn´t have when we were young, people who are in our lives now… All these things and more contribute to the thoughts we have about what we are worth, what we deserve...

"Why Do We Have Such A
Low Regard For Ourselves"

I remember not feeling really good about myself when I was a little girl. I didn't have healthy self esteem at all. Nobody in school wanted to play with me and at some point I just didn´t care anymore. I would just play with one girl, who was also not really accepted by the rest and we became friends. I have lost track of her now, but I was lucky to have at least one person I could call my friend. I later realized that it was me who didn´t approach anyone to play with me, because I felt they wouldn´t like me anyway.

I always wondered: "Why was I so shy and why couldn´t I stand up for myself? What was keeping me from having a healthy self esteem?" Until one day I underwent a reflexology treatment. The practitioner hit a particular spot on my big toe. I started crying and couldn´t stop for a long time. I don´t even know how long I lay there crying. He had to ask me to stop, because other patients were waiting.

I realized right then and there that my parents never told me they loved me. My parents didn´t treat me bad or anything like that, but I guess I needed to hear them say: "I love you" instead of them just taking care of my basic needs. Knowing you are loved is a big boost for your self esteem.

Other people do have parents telling them they love them, but there could be someone in school bullying them, calling them terrible names and making them feel very bad about themselves.

Having a low self esteem is mainly caused by our own thoughts and what other people get us to believe about ourselves. When we are young we rely on others to teach us the things we need to know to go through life. If they tell us something negative or positive about ourselves we are not yet capable of determining whether or not what they are saying is true. We just assume they´re right. But as we get older we can start choosing what to believe about ourselves.

"You Can Get Healthy Self Esteem"

It is high time to feel great about yourself!

It is high time to feel great about yourself!

There are a lot of websites out there suggesting different ways to improve ones self esteem. What worked for me at first were affirmations. I started using affirmations after reading the book "You can heal your life" by Louise Hay. This book opened up a whole new world for me at a time that I really needed it.

Affirming often enough that you are good enough and worthy of love, can be a very powerful way of building up your self respect. The main reason for this is that you start believing whatever you would like to believe about yourself, because affirmations are all about repetition. Just like when you believe other people when they keep telling you the same thing about yourself over and over again. But as you start believing in your own worth and start valuing yourself, it gets easier for you to put aside their remarks.

Another technique that worked for me and that I´m still using is: "Be Set Free Fast (BSFF)". It is a very gentle way of getting rid of emotional roots and self-limiting belief systems that are implanted in the subconscious mind. It was developed by Larry Nims, Ph.D. He is a licensed psychologist. BSFF is basically an Energy Therapy method. It is very powerful and has helped me a lot.

I believe these two methods, affirmations and BSFF, can have positive effects on your self regard. I really hope that with this information you will realize that you are worthy of having all the wonderful things life has to offer and that you will start to feel great about yourself.

I have much more information for you, so keep looking around.
