"How Much Do You
Love Your Self?"

Do you love your self? Can you look in the mirror, look yourself in the eyes and say: "I love you [fill in your name]"? Can you? Great! Keep it up!

You cannot? You don´t think you ever will? I´m sorry to hear that, because loving your self is so important in order to feel great about yourself. It´s different from loving your body though, because your body is an extension of your "self". It is not you.

Did you notice I am saying: "Love Your Self and not Love Yourself"?

No, you are not your body. Your body is just a vehicle you use to carry your consciousness (the real you) around on this planet. If you don´t love your body, but you can see yourself as a consciousness connected to a body, you´ll be able to love your self regardless.

"Your body is just a highly sophisticated vehicle that you are "driving" around."

It took me years to be able to look myself in the eye and say "I love you, Mimi", without wanting to look away or giggle. The technique I used was persistence. Everytime I was about to brush my teeth I would look into the mirror and try to say it. At first I just couldn't. I couldn't even look myself in they eye.

I really had to keep at it. Of course besides doing this mirror exercise I did affirmations. They were a great help to me.

Now I can do it with a big smile on my face and a wink!

"You Are A Good Person
Worthy Of Love"

Now, do you think you´re a good person? Even if you think you´re a bad person, there is always something good about you.

I believe we are all good at the core. The people who are considered "bad" actually "do" bad things. That doesn´t mean they are bad. Maybe this is a bit hard to believe, but someone could be exhibiting bad behavior because this is all they know. Or this is how they know to protect themselves. It´s too much to go into here, but I hope you understand what I mean. By the way, I am not condoning what they do. I am just trying to make you see that doing something "bad" doesn´t necessarily make you a bad person.

Once you realize that the things you do, the habits you have are just the things you do and not you, you are ready to love your self just the way you are.

So who are you? Do you know your true self? And if you do, do you love "it"?

"What is "True Self" Anyway"

Trying to find your true self can be a life long journey. But it´s the journey that makes it all worthwhile.

The self you think you know now is probably just your ego. Your ego has a very good way of hiding who you really are, because it doesn´t know the real you. The self you really are is very powerful. You are able to create anything you want in life. Your ego, thoughts and believes are often not allowing you to realize this.

Meditation can help you get back to your self. Observing your thoughts is a very powerful way of finding out what is going on inside you. If you can get very still and just listen, you can "hear" answers to the questions you might have about anything in your life. Answers that you have inside of you, but that are blocked by your ego and all the clutter in your mind.

I found this great site on meditation and personal development. If you´d like to learn how to meditate, which can really help you love your self, this is a good place to go. Jeanie Marshall offers a free 21 day MiniCourse on meditation and an E-zine and I think they're both very helpful. Especially, when you´re new to meditation or even if you've been doing it for a long time, she can help you set up a regular practice. Jeanie also has some great guided meditations.

If you prefer e-books to e-courses, here's one I found that explains meditation in a very easy way. It's called "Easy Meditation - Tips and techniques for the meditation beginner". Even if you are a very busy person this e-book can help you get closer to your true self. Did you know that meditation has many more benefits? Like reducing stress and restoring an overall feeling of wellbeing which leads to better health. Click here to read this e-book in your browser, or right-click to download it. The author recommends meditation products that I have not tried myself, but I think that the information given is enough for anybody to learn how to meditate without using the products. Your free to try them of course.

If you would like to dig deeper into yourself, then I would really suggest meditation. Finding out the real you is a good step closer to loving your self and meditation is a great way to do that. I don´t think that you´ll be disappointed by what you find. You cannot but love your self, because you are love.
