Welcome to my 8th Friday "Feel Great About Yourself" Tip. This is where I get to give you an inspiring tip, to help you feel great about who you are. I suggest you read the tip carefully, pay attention to any emotions or resistance that might come up and use your BSFF cue (if you have one) to release them. If you don't have a cue yet, go here to learn more about BSFF.

"Take control of your breathing!"


Exploring the Tip

Did the tip bring up any emotions or resistance? If so, you know what to do.

We can live without food for about 8 weeks, without water for 3 to 5 days, but without breathing for only 4-5 minutes. In other words it's very important that we breath. Your body needs oxygen to perform properly, as well as water and other nutrients.

A baby knows instinctively how to breath. Unfortunately, as we grow older, we forget. Our breathing is often very shallow and causes fatigue and an overall feeling of blah.

Breathing is supposed to be deep and relaxed. Diaphragmatic breathing is when the diaphragm moves up and down easily and effortlessly, as air slides in and out of your lungs. The diaphragm is a large muscular sheet that separates the chest cavity from the abdomen. Breathing by letting the diaphragm do its "job" is the natural way to breath and makes sure that your body gets the oxygen it needs to feel great.

Give it a go. Sit up straight. Just relax and imagine the air moving in and out of your lungs easily without you "doing" anything. No pushing out your belly, no raising your shoulders, etc. You'll notice that the fog in your head clears up and you feel more energized and great.
