Great Quote

"It's not whether you get knocked down: it's whether you get back up."

----, by Vince Lombardi

"Life is full of ups and downs"

Read the quote above again.

How long does it normally take you to get back up again after something has knocked you down? Depending on what it is that knocked you down, it could take hours, days, weeks, etc, right? I remember lying in bed, thoughts going through my head, feeling pretty low for days.

I didn't want to do anything, just ly there and forget about what was going on around me. As a little girl I used to feel very alone most of the time. I had different interests than my classmates or the few friends that I had and feeling alone is an emotion that has haunted for me a good part of my life. I noticed that it caused quite a few challenges.

It took me time and effort to overcome this. I had to really decide that I didn't want to go through the same things over and over again.

I learned that expressing emotions is very important. When you hold them in, that's when they can cause all kinds of problems, from mental to physical problems. What works best for me is to write stuff down, but BSFF is a great help as well. Many a time I've calmed myself down just by thinking or saying my cue phrase. I'm always amazed at how fast and easy BSFF works.

In my intro I said that we should be able to deal with both the ups and the downs. How many times have you gone through a great experience wondering how long it would last, instead of just enjoying it? Think about that.

Like I said before it's very important to express your emotions. If you don't, they will find a way to get expressed and the more you're holding in, the more you'll get opportunities to express them.

The moment you're able to see your downs as opportunities to overcome unpleasant emotions, you'll be less troubled by an experience and you'll be able to bounce back quicker. The time between your ups and your downs will increase, with you feeling up a lot longer.

There will always be downs in your life, it's how you perceive them that matters. Remember you have a choice, so choose to feel great about yourself.
