Let's Feel Great, Issue #025 -- are you perfect yet?
April 01, 2009
Dear,

Hi there,

So are you perfect yet? The reason I ask, is because a lot of people wait until they're perfect before they start doing things, like feeling great about themselves.

Are you one of those people? Are you striving to be perfect, thinking that as long as you aren't, things are just not "right" and you don't deserve anything good in life?

If you are, let's talk about how to overcome this need for perfectionism.

Love,
Mimi

Great Quote

"Of all the creatures of earth, only human beings can change their patterns. Man alone is the architect of his destiny ... Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives."

----, by William James.

"Are You Perfect Yet?"

Read the above quote again!

If you don't already know than let me tell you, we human beings are very powerful beings. This means that we can create whatever it is we want. We create our reality and we do this perfectly.

Just imagine this scenario. You're in a restaurant with someone you care a lot about and whom you know cares about you. This person tells you; "You can choose whatever you like on the menu. Just go for it. It's on me." Now what would your response be? Would you say something like, "Wow, that's very generous of you, thank you so much, I'll have this (pointing at the menu)!" Or would your response be "Mmm, are you sure you want to do that? I mean, it's very nice of you, but do I deserve that? I mean I'm so (fill in whatever you feel is keeping you from being deserving of being treated, like being perfect)."

I know it might seem a bit strange that your need to be perfect could stop you from accepting good things in life, but it's part of not having a healthy self esteem. Thoughts like "As long as I'm not perfect, I'm not good enough to deserve the best" seem to haunt you wherever you go or whatever you do. The result is a life that is just not fulfilling. A life that you create for yourself by holding on to this need to be perfect.

You see, the person who is with you in that restaurant, is your higher self and the "restaurant" is the Universe or whatever force you believe supports us in this life. You can have whatever you like, for fr.ee. The bill is taken care off. Now what do we do, we wonder whether we deserve to have whatever it is our hearts desire and end of the day order something cheap, something we feel is good enough for us. We don't want to seem like we're taking advantage, so a simple sandwich will suffice. Isn't it true that deep down inside you wish you could have a nice juicy steak or a seafood platter or for the vegetarians among us, some really nice mixed vegetable curry or anything you'd really love to have?

So what is keeping you from "ordering" what you really want? It could be a number of things:

1. You're not sure what it is you want
2. You feel undeserving, you're not perfect yet
3. Your "negative" thoughts and beliefs about yourself
4. You just don't believe you are the one creating your experiences
5. You focus on what you don't want and that's what you end up getting (Law of Attraction)

Now what can you do to put an end to this wanting to be perfect before you deserve to have anything good in life?

Have you read the article on the Power Word Technique yet? If not go here. It is a great way to get rid of limiting beliefs. It's not as powerful as BSFF, but it's a simple technique that really works.

I would highly recommend you take the time to find out more about either the Power Word Technique or BSFF, because I can only speak from experience and these techniques have both helped me a lot in overcoming my need to be perfect. I now just feel great about the person I am in this moment and that's such a weight of my shoulders...
