Let's Feel Great, Issue #004 -- Are you eating all your colors,?

Eating healthy, excercise and healthy thinking are very important to feel great. A dear friend of mine introduced me to a very nice and easy diet that's great for the healthy eating part.
Before I go on telling you about it, I'd like to share this with you: Anything you do, has to be in balance. My moto is, if you can put "too" in front of it, it's not good... like too much or too little...
That's why I like this diet so much...
Are you eating all your colors?You might have guessed it. I am talking about the "color diet". Now, this diet is not a new revolutionary diet. It's easy, exciting, fun and just common sense.
All you do is eat 5 foods everyday of a different color. This way you get all the vitamins and minerals you need AND you help your body in cleansing itself.
So, ask yourself: "What is my favorite color?". Now what foods do you know of that color that you like? Let's take yellow for example. That means you can choose from banana, sweetcorn, pineapple, yellow pepper, etc.
Now what is your least favorite color at the moment? If it's red, that means you don't need red meat, chocolate, caffeine, etc in your diet. Yes chocolate and caffeine are considered red foods.
There's a wide range of colors. Just have a look at a box of crayons, or if you can resist the tempation get a pack of smarties or color candies.
Here's a list of the colors, their benefits and a few of the foods for that color:
GREEN, gives balance, it's nature, green vegetables that are rich in potent phytochemicals and are renown for their antioxidant health promoting benefits. Apples, grapes, lettuce, spinach, watercress, cabbage, green peppers, courgettes/zucchini, peas, celery, the list goes on and on.
BLUE and PURPLE, give calmness, beat the effect of ageing, great for the urinary tract and memory functions. Blackberries, blueberries, eggplant, plums, currants, rasins, etc... Fish is also classified as a blue food. It is excellent for Omega 3, enhanced concentration and memory functions.
ORANGE and YELLOW, sunshine and health giving foods, these foods make us feel healthy, happy and alive. You'll notice a change in your skin and whole outlook... you'll begin to shine. Oranges, carrots, pumpkin, papaya, tangerines, peaches, grapefruit, apricots, bananas, sweetcorn, etc. These foods are full of the sunshine vitamins C and D.
RED, for energy flow, blood, heart circulation. Once your blood is moving around your body, you perform well, but beware too much red can lead to overheating and even overeating. Especially if you choose the wrong red foods, like chocolate and caffeine. We crave these foods normally when we are feeling angry or our emotions/energy levels need a boost. Go ahead and have your coffee, chocolate or red wine, but for those who'd like to try a healthier option, try tomatoes, strawberries, red apples, red peppers, etc. And go for a hamburger when you feel the urge, your body is asking for that color and needs it at that time...
I am convinced this diet will help you feel great and the fact that you take good care of your body can only make you feel great about yourself.
